Army Sergeant Devin James Daniels, 22, of Nampa, Idaho, joined the military in 2008, shortly after graduating from Eagle High School. On August 25th, 2011, he died of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle using an improvised explosive device.

In 2010, he was deployed soon after marrying his wife, Samantha. From August of 2010 to his passing, Daniels served as a vehicle operator in the 546th Transportation Company. He was posthumously promoted from the rank of corporal to sergeant. His numerous awards and decorations included the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, among others.

Sgt. Daniels loved the military and found a home in it. His fellow soldiers remembered him as a hard charging and squared away soldier and someone that the chain of command could always count on to complete a mission. While on a two-week leave, Daniels was able to be home for the birth of his daughter. He said that holding her was the highlight of his life.

SGT. Daniels is survived by wife Samantha and daughter Olivia.
